FirstLight HomeCare of Southern Maine is owned and operated by husband and wife team Peter Gartland and Carol Larkin. We left private industry management positions and chose to develop this in-home care company based on our 15+ years of personal caregiving to our elder parents. Because of our own first-hand experience with elder care, we know the issues, questions and challenges facing individuals who assume the caregiver role.

When we became caregivers of our elderly parents, we realized there was an acute need:

     1) For a service to assist caregivers, like ourselves, with the sometimes complex array of service provider decisions.

     2) To offer a more cost-effective option to alternative residential care.

     3) To provide families with a viable option for allowing elders to remain living in their own home.
