Jim and Michelle Alex, Owners

Jim and Michelle Alex identified the need for quality and professional caregiving services in northwest Indiana during their long careers as pharmaceutical representatives . After Michelle was downsized in 2010 and Jim was wary about what his own future in healthcare held, the couple decided to try something new and apply their skills to a more meaningful area of work. The Alexes discovered FirstLight Home Care to be the perfect fit and opened for business in April.

In the Alexes line of work as pharmaceutical consultants, they noticed the doctors’ offices they worked with had trouble getting some of the elderly patients to come in for their scheduled appointments. They also found that Valparaiso had a number of assisted living facilities but many of the residents’ family members wanted the option for their loved ones to remain in their homes, if possible. Jim and Michelle realized that the aging population of baby boomers provided great opportunity and a chance to help local families in their community.

People who are caring for aging parents need to plan financially for the future and need to weigh all options available for long-term care. FirstLight Home Care services Valparaiso, Munster, Chesterton, Portage, Merrillville, Crown Point and surrounding communities. Jim and Michelle have a steady growth plan in place and plan on utilizing their experience and connections in the local health field to build the new business throughout northwest Indiana. Both are looking forward to providing the best care possible.
