World Alzheimer’s Month recap


Even though World Alzheimer’s Month has drawn to an end, everyone on the FirstLight team knows how important and invaluable awareness about the mind-robbing illness is. One in eight people over the age of 65 is diagnosed with the disease, for which there is no cure. This is a topic that really hits home for many of our franchisees, caregivers and staff who know or have cared for a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

This month’s Alzheimer’s awareness award goes to our very own Gina Kaurich—the executive director of client care services. Many of you may have already listened to Gina on eCareDiary’s Empowering Caregiver podcast or more recently this week on the Senior Care Corner segment where she discussed the ins and outs of the disease and what caregivers can do to help relieve the stress associated with it.
