I am part of a growing trend of people who are caring for aging parents while raising my own family. The essence of nursing is about caring for people and helping them achieve physical, emotional, and spiritual health and well-being. Nurses also help people find solutions to their health and wellness needs. And one of the truths I have discovered since being with Telikin is that computer technology can be an important tool in caregiving and is positively life changing for seniors and their families!
Being part of a company that has developed an easy to use computer with seniors in mind has given me the opportunity to see the various ways computer technology helps seniors and their families. We offer a simple way for families and friends to enjoy the many social and health benefits of staying connected with their loved ones. We see first hand, the benefits of face to face video calls and how virtual visits can transform relationships as well as offer important clues to how our senior loved ones are doing. Staying connected with family and friends with photosharing and email and maintaining independence with online shopping can make the difference between social isolation and a maintaining a sense of dignity and being an integral part of the family.
My husband Fred, also the CEO of Telikin, and I have been family caregivers for over 20 years. And we have experienced the personal journey of watching our parents adopt computer technology and experience how it has impacted our entire family. In contributing to the technology blog, my hope is to share information and stories with you about the benefits of seniors and computing.
