Matt and his team were an absolute Godsend! From the moment we met Matt we were impressed. He assessed the situation, shared comprehensive feedback, and provided potential solutions for a family member’s short and long-term care. While we worked through the details of off-site long-term care, Matt and his team took excellent care of our ailing family member on a short-term basis. Not only did we feel confident with Matt and his team, however, our family member was always delighted to see her caregiver for the day. They cleaned and created an organised, safe space for her. They also served lunch, did the laundry, and even coloured with her.

From our first meeting w Marisa, their care coordinator, to personal check-ins and visits by the owner Matt, we could tell they took the word care to heart. And the care provider for my mom, Brenda, came to our home and quickly became a friend whom my mom is very comfortable with. They have great conversations together. They assisted with both personal care and ensured that essential knee/leg exercises were carried out per the doctor’s instructions. I was very pleased with the services offered by FirstLight Home Care of Carlsbad and Encinitas. Matt August, the owner and manager, went above and beyond my expectations. I needed assistance for my knee replacement surgery and Matt set everything up for me perfectly! All of the caregivers that were with me before and after the surgery were wonderful. Matt also checked on me while the caregivers were there to make sure that everything was going as planned, including my physical therapy exercises and my knee icing afterward. All in all, they are simply outstanding and what they do! I can’t recommend them highly enough.

In these emotional caregiving situations where the family of a loved one is experiencing anxiety and crisis, you will have an expert ally helping take care of that loved one. I had a great experience with Matt and all of the care providers. Matt helped make my mothers (96 year old with dementia) transition from independent living to assisted living go very well. He would check in on caregivers regularly and with my mother to ensure all is going well. He helped my mother get through the most difficult time in her life. When my mother was confused or agitated Matt would calm her down and make sure she had what she needed. All of the caregivers were caring and met all of needs my mother had. When she had medical appointments the caregiver would make sure that she got to appointment on time and would check her into the doctors office and help with any needs they had. Then when called she would escort her into the exam room. Then safely return my mother home. Matt instructed the care givers to make sure she didn’t sleep all day.
We started looking for a caregiver for my mom and talked with Matt at FirstLight Home Care. Matt took the time to get to know our needs, share about their services and answered all of my questions.
This is my first time trying to find a caregiver and Matt helped put my mind to ease knowing my mom will be in good hands with his staff. Matt and his team provides excellent customer service and I would give them more than 5 stars if I could! I would absolutely recommend using them!!
Wow, wow, wow, where do I begin? If I could give FirstLight Home Care of Carlsbad 100 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I had a desperate emergency. My father had a stroke, and I had been with him in the hospital for months, and they released him to a skilled nursing facility. He was treated so poorly within the first 24 hours that he was there. I refused to let him go another second and signed him out immediately, bringing him home to my house. I knew I didn’t have anybody to look after him and wondered what I would do, but I couldn’t leave him there. So I started researching, and this fantastic company popped up on my phone, and I reached out to them, and this was at 6:30 in the morning. Within minutes, somebody reached out to me and let me know that they could send somebody out to provide caregiving help for my father while my husband and I had to work all day. Not only that, but they sent the owner, Matt, to come out. I didn’t even have a chance to meet him in person because I had to run out the door to work. Let me tell you, this man is a saint and an angel sent from above. He went above and beyond. He helped shave my dad‘s face and helped shower him, and that made such a difference in bringing joy to my dad. Since my dad’s dominant hand has become paralyzed, and he is just starting to learn how to walk again, Matt Truly showed the meaning of customer service and going above and beyond alongside his excellent staff and caregivers. They have been at my house daily, caring for my father, vacuuming, cleaning, doing my laundry, taking out my trash, cooking for my father, and caring for my pets. I’m just amazed at how amazing, happy, and relaxed I feel knowing that my father is in such great hands while I’m at work every day. I’m so grateful for Matt and his fantastic staff, Melissa and Jessica. I am beyond thankful for Matt and his team.
