What is the Senior Homecare?

At FirstLight Home Care, we provide short-term and long-term homecare 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to the communities of Greenville and surrounding. We offer non-medical in-home care that covers everything from household duties like cooking, cleaning, and laundry to individual needs such as bathing and hygiene, continence and toileting care, mobility assistance and assistance with eating.

Our homecare services are available to the Greenville communities, wherever it’s needed most, to adults of all ages. From seniors that need assistance in order to stay in their homes, individuals who have chronic illnesses, families that need help because of special needs or disabilities, people recovering from surgery or illnesses, new moms, and families of deployed military personnel. We even serve as someone to talk to help enhance daily lives.

What Are the Advantages of Homecare Versus Senior Care in a Facility?

It offers freedom. In-home senior care can be better, physically and mentally, because it allows seniors to remain active longer. They are able to maintain their own schedules and a certain level of mobility. Emotionally it can also be better, because some seniors who are placed in nursing homes develop depression, negatively affecting their quality of life and health.

In some cases, FirstLight caregivers are asked to come to a nursing home, assisted living facility, or retirement community to provide additional companionship care and assistance with task that may not be met in these institutions. This can include things such as going to doctor’s appointments, running errands, and taking trips to a favorite restaurant.
