If you’ve ever had a close friend or family member who suffers from dementia, you’re probably aware of the fact that the disease makes people act and behave in ways to that are very uncharacteristic of their regular personalities. The goal of our dementia care and home care assistance in the Indiana communities of Plainfield, Avon, Brownsburg and surrounding West Indianapolis areas is to ensure proper care for people suffering from from Alzheimer’s or dementia. We want to help them reclaim parts of themselves that may appear to have been lost by the condition. We have found that catering to the emotional needs of those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s is not only beneficial for them as individuals, but also for the welfare of their immediate family members.
Person-First Dementia Care
In order to meet the extremely important emotional needs of those who suffer from dementia (and their loved ones), we have developed our own unique dementia care and home care assistance programs, available to our Indiana clients in Plainfield, Avon, Brownsburg, and surrounding West Indianapolis communities. With our specialized programs, the individual is emphasized over the disease itself.
Every one of our clients has a “Who I Am” booklet; with these booklets, we have a far more intimate level of insight into the client’s identity than just a basic history. Because a person is more than the year they graduated college or the color of their eyes or what they ate for dinner in Paris. They are a patchwork of emotions and personality that doesn’t end with memory loss. The things that we come to understand about your loved one include (but are not limited to) the following:
- What makes you happy?
- Feel accomplished?
- What distresses or frustrates you?
Once this important information has been gathered and taken into account, our Indiana dementia care coordinators can develop an effective personal care plan for your loved one. To make the process even more thorough, we make sure that each of our clients is given a one-on-one consultation with prospective caregivers until the most appropriate caregiver can be determined.
In addition to one-on-one consultations, we also make a point to conduct regular check-ins. Client satisfaction surveys, focus groups, and advisory councils are just a few examples of the ways that we can evaluate the effectiveness of our services as the days go by.
Our dementia care and home care assistance is available to the communities of Plainfield, Avon, Brownsburg and other cities near West Indianapolis.
