Personalized, Engaging Approach to Dementia Care
For Any Stage of Dementia, Including Alzheimer’s Disease
At FirstLight Home Care of Greater Lansing, we have designed a care plan for people diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Depending on the stage of the disease, the patient may experience anxiety, confusion, and the feeling of being alone. Our dementia care plans are designed to not only help the person affected by the disease, but also the entire family. Caring for someone with dementia can be frightening, stressful, and very hard work. Being the person experiencing the disease is just as frightening and stressful. We strive to provide the best home care assistance in Lansing possible for both the caregiver and the loved one. Available to the Lansing and Okemos communities, our dementia care plans include maintaining as much normalcy as possible so our patients can continue to live the best life possible.
We treat our clients individually based on who they are as a person, not according to their diagnosis. We believe it doesn’t matter what stage a person with dementia is in – they are still the same person with their unique personally traits as they always were. We work closely with their families to help us discover who our patients are during times when they are unable to tell us themselves.
Person-First Dementia Care
At FirstLight Home Care, we want to see your loved one continue to live a fulfilling life. Our dementia care, available to the communities of Okemos and Lansing, is home care assistance that is personalized for each person we work with. We make sure to bring in the family to the care plan and create a plan that benefits everyone. We provide a “Who Am I” booklet for families to fill out and give us a clear understanding of the person we will be helping care for. We want to know more than just their likes or dislikes, medical history, or favorite foods. We ask questions such as:
- What makes you happy?
- What makes you laugh?
- What makes you feel accomplished?
- What makes you feel distressed or frustrated?
We enable the family to help find the perfect caregiver for their loved one through individual consultations. In addition to that, we are always working to improve and meet the needs of all of our clients. We offer the opportunity to fill out satisfaction surveys, meet with client and caregiver focus groups, and meet with advisory councils. Our goal is to create the perfect plan for home care assistance and to achieve absolute peace about who is caring for your loved one.
