Personal Care Services
FirstLight Home Care provides a variety of personal care services to assist with all Activities of Daily Living.
The goal of personal care involves assisting those who need help with Activities of Daily Living, commonly referred to as ADL’s. These include personal mobility, personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, bathing, continence management or toileting and personal hygiene. Like all our services, personal care assistance can be performed at home, or in any healthcare setting. All caregiving services are available as both short-term care or long-term care, up to 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Walking and Mobility
Our caregivers are trained to help clients who need mobility assistance. Our caregivers carefully consider the physical limitations and comfort of each client’s ability to walk, climb stairs, get in and out of vehicles, and make other routine movements as they assist them.
Transferring and Posture
In addition to helping our clients with regular movement around the home or around town, our personal care services can assist with posture while for eating or while sitting and reading or watching television. They are also trained to properly transfer clients out of bed or to the bathroom.
Bathing, Dressing and Personal Hygiene
Our caregivers are specially trained in bathing, personal hygiene and other personal care services, and always focus on preserving the dignity, comfort, and health of each client.
Continence Management and Toileting
Our FirstLight Home Care caregivers are trained and experienced in assisting complete continence care, while being mindful of each client’s comfort, dignity and personal space.
Meal Preparation and Dietary Needs
We work with clients, families, and nutrition professionals to plan and prepare meals according to the specific needs of our clients. This can include shopping for special diets (diabetic, low-sodium, low-trans fat, etc.) and working to fix favorite dishes.
Assistance Eating Meals
Our caregivers are trained to help clients with physical limitations that require assistance preparing and consuming solid foods and liquids safely.
