A Personalized, Engaging Approach to Dementia Care
For Any Stage of Dementia, Including Alzheimer’s Disease
FirstLight Home Care of Spartanburg has developed a unique dementia care and Alzheimer’s care program to support those suffering from the disease and work to help manage the symptoms that come with it, which can include anxiety, sadness, confusion, and loneliness. Our dementia care and Alzheimer’s care plans, available to Spartanburg, Duncan, and surrounding communities, are not only designed to support the individual suffering from the disease, but take the whole family into consideration as well.
If you’ve met one person with Alzheimer’s or dementia, you’ve only met one version; that is because Alzheimer’s and dementia affects each individual differently. Each person has their own unique personality and characteristics and the disease will affect every individual differently as a result.
Person-First Dementia Care
FirstLight Home Care has developed a custom Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s care program for the communities of Spartanburg, Moore, Duncan, and surrounding areas. This program creates a care plan around the patient, and not just the disease – Taking into consideration who they were in the past, and not just who we interact with today.
When entering our care program, each patient and their family fills out a “Who I Am” booklet, which helps us grasp the full view of the individual in need of care. The booklet helps us understand things about your loved one, including, but not limited to:
- What makes you feel accomplished?
- What makes you feel happy?
- What antagonizes you?
Our caregivers and coordinators receive extensive training to ensure the best care is provided for your loved one who is plagued by dementia or Alzheimer’s. We work with you and your loved one to build a customized treatment plan that will outline how we will go about our daily care to ensure your loved one is well taken care of. We include the family in the caregiver selection process to ensure the best match and to provide peace-of-mind. Your loved one’s care program will include on-going innovation by analyzing its effectiveness through client satisfaction surveys, advisory councils, and patient and caregiver evaluation sessions.
