A Personalized, Engaging Approach to Dementia Care
For Any Stage of Dementia, Including Alzheimer’s Disease
At FirstLight Home Care, we have a special interest in helping people who suffer from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. We have created dementia care and elderly care plans designed to help people of all ages in Sunrise, Weston, and Pembroke Pines cope with the related anxiety, depression, confusion, and isolation they experience. Our innovative programs for home dementia care services improve daily living for both the person directly affected and their immediate family members.
Dementia affects every person differently depending on his or her own individual characteristics. Not only do rates of progression vary widely, but so too will patterns of speech, memory, and behavior. We understand that all of these factors must be taken into account when designing a personal plan of care.
Person-First Dementia Care
That’s how FirstLight Home Care of Sunrise, Weston, and Pembroke Pines created our Dementia Care and Elderly Care Program—we design our dementia care around each person, not the illness. We integrate key aspects of who that person once was, not just the individual we meet today. The goal of this personal engagement is to make sure those affected by dementia are able to maximize their quality of life in a way that’s meaningful for them.
Each client family completes a “Who I Am” booklet that includes more than basic biographical background information. We want to understand things about your loved one such as:
- What makes him/her happy?
- Feel accomplished?
- What distresses or frustrates him or her?
Our dementia care and elderly care coordinators and caregivers in Sunrise, Weston, and Pembroke Pines rely on this very personal information to build detailed daily plans for customized dementia care. We get you involved in our rigorous procedures for caregiver selection and provide one-on-one consultations with family members. We conduct ongoing client satisfaction surveys to collect real-time feedback and input that improves our evolving dementia care services for optimal effectiveness.
