Prior to opening FirstLight Home Care in Oviedo, Karen Tucker spent nearly 20 years in various sales and management positions within the healthcare industry, most recently in a supervisory position with Cigna Dental. Although Karen found success in her career, she had a deep-rooted feeling that she could and should be doing more to help others in the community on a more personal level.
Karen’s first-hand experiences caring for her own aging family members led her to the home health care industry. In college, Karen was a caregiver for her grandfather, who she knew wanted to remain in his own home for as long as possible. Later, Karen’s sister became the primary caregiver for their mother who was battling cancer. Recognizing the incredible amount of stress and responsibility placed on family caregivers, Karen’s idea to open an in-home care business was sparked. It was a goal of hers to provide senior care to aging seniors to fulfill their desire to remain independent in their own homes. After much research, FirstLight Home Care was the obvious choice because of its dedication to client satisfaction, focus on “Culture of Care” throughout the system and an unparalleled screening process for Orlando caregivers. Karen has built an incomparable team of compassionate caregivers in Orlando to provide exceptional senior home care services while maintaining the happiness and wellness of the senior and disabled population of Central Florida.

Caring for others has always been my passion. There is a special kind of joy I feel being able to give of myself to bring joy to another. Being a caregiver at FirstLight Home Care of Central Orlando has given me the opportunity to use my compassion and passion for helping others to positively impact peoples’ lives. Every client I meet is unique and I enjoy building connections with every one of them. My clients never cease to inspire me with their resilience and I am continually learning from my experiences with them and the stories they tell me. When I go home at the end of the day, I know I have truly done my best to take care of someone else’s needs and there is nothing more rewarding than that feeling. I feel very fortunate to be a part of a team that puts client care first and truly cares about their clients and employees.
