FirstLight is About People
Home Care is Not a Career, It’s a Calling
We know your first priority when choosing a home care provider is finding someone you can trust and rely on… someone who will care for your loved one as you would, and as we would our own. We’ve been where you are, and this is one of the main reasons we chose to be in this business.
Karen Tucker, Owner/ President
FirstLight Home Care of Central Orlando was designed from the ground up to be a completely new approach to high-quality in-home care creating the most comprehensive, reliable, attentive, best managed and values-driven organization in the industry. Every facet of the in-home care market is continually studied to provide our customers truly exceptional service. And that exceptional service starts with our people.
Prior to opening FirstLight Home Care in Oviedo, Karen Tucker spent nearly 20 years in various sales and management positions within the healthcare industry, most recently in a supervisory position with Cigna Dental. Although Karen found success in her career, she had a deep-rooted feeling that she could and should be doing more to help others in the community on a more personal level.
Karen’s first-hand experiences caring for her own aging family members led her to the home health care industry. In college, Karen was a caregiver for her grandfather, who she knew wanted to remain in his own home for as long as possible. Later, Karen’s sister became the primary caregiver for their mother who was battling cancer. Recognizing the incredible amount of stress and responsibility placed on family caregivers, Karen’s idea to open an in-home care business was sparked. It was a goal of hers to provide senior care to aging seniors to fulfill their desire to remain independent in their own homes. After much research, FirstLight Home Care was the obvious choice because of its dedication to client satisfaction, focus on “Culture of Care” throughout the system and an unparalleled screening process for Orlando caregivers. Karen has built an incomparable team of compassionate caregivers in Orlando to provide exceptional senior home care services while maintaining the happiness and wellness of the senior and disabled population of Central Florida.
Karen intends to make FirstLight Home Care Orlando a valuable resource for those in need. With the aging population of baby boomers wanting to remain in-home and independent for as long as possible, FirstLight is committed to meeting this growing need and taking the opportunity to better educate the Orlando community about the options available to them. People who are caring for aging parents need to plan financially for the future and nee to weigh all options available for long term care. FirstLight Home Care of Central Orlando services Seminole, Orange and Osceola Counties of Central Florida.
Ellen Hersey, Care Coordinator
It is exciting and challenging to be involved in customer service in a variety of venues from support staff in medical or dental practices to human resources with the NBA basketball team, The Orlando Magic. I have enjoyed the journey of my life. Raising five sons into productive, healthy, men is perhaps my greatest personal accomplishment.
Agency assignments and private duty Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s & Dementia are just a few of the many clients I have served in recent years. Joining the Orlando FirstLight Home Care team, here in Oviedo, gives me the opportunity to continue serving the needs of an ever growing population of families. The “light” we offer shines into and opens the hearts and minds of those whom we touch.

You and your family are special, so it takes a special kind of person to be a Orlando FirstLight Home Care caregiver. Compassionate, caring, sincere, experienced, and attentive: these are just some the qualities we insist that our home companions possess. We care about the quality of our at-home caregivers because you care enough to invite us into your home—into your life—allowing us to share in all the ups, downs, and joyful moments that make your family unique. And that’s a trust we don’t take lightly. Ever.
Most people prefer to stay in their home, among familiar and comfortable surroundings. That’s why we provide home care services wherever home is – a nursing home, assisted living facility, retirement community or hospice. Providing first-class personal service to help you or a loved one maintain independence and quality of life is always our upmost priority.
