Woodbridge Home Care Provider Among Best in the Nation

FirstLight Home Care of Woodbridge’s “fanatical” dedication to clients, employees and service earns multiple honors in Home Care Pulse Best of Home Care® Awards

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (March 14, 2017) – If you ask Paul Jones why his FirstLight Home Care of Woodbridge is different than other providers of home care services, he’ll tell you it’s because he and his co-owner, wife Renee, are fanatics.

Paul, the Chief Relationship Officer for the organization, said the pair is simply “fanatical” about relationships. About solving problems. About giving their clients peace of mind. About taking care of their employees. And about being the best provider of non-medical home care in the market.

That’s what earned FirstLight Home Care of Woodbridge a place among the country’s top home care providers. The organization was recently recognized by the 2017 Best of Home Care Awards.

The awards are presented annually by Home Care Pulse, a third-party research and quality assurance home care satisfaction measurement firm. FirstLight Home Care of Woodbridge earned both the Provider of Choice and the Employer of Choice awards. Based solely on feedback from clients, the Provider of Choice Award is presented to providers that have been a Home Care Pulse Certified – Trusted Partner for at least six consecutive months and rank in the top 50th percentile in two or more client satisfaction categories. And based solely on feedback from employees, the Employer of Choice Award is presented to providers that have been a Home Care Pulse Certified – Trusted Provider for at least six consecutive months and rank in the top 50th percentile in two or more caregiver satisfaction categories.

Paul, a clinical social worker who received his MBA from the University of Louisville College of Business in Louisville, Kentucky, and has nearly 30 years of experience helping people solve and cope with problems, said the progression to home care was a natural one for him and Renee.

“In the past decade, Renee and I have lost six family members to Alzheimer’s Disease,” Paul said.

“When we were going through the challenges of those experiences, we needed a partner that understood the stress, distraction, guilt and struggle of keeping promises to family members who were dealing with that devastating illness. We needed a partner that could help us protect and preserve our relationships with the people we loved through some of the most challenging days of all of our lives. Through all of the experiences we had, we knew we wanted to be that partner for other families in need in our community. We truly believe this is our life’s work.”

Non-medical home care provides the assistance and support people may need to live independently in their homes. FirstLight Home Care serves older adults; those recovering from illness, injury or surgery; adults who have disabilities; people navigating a major life transition; and anyone else who may need assistance where they live. Home care is the fastest-growing healthcare segment, making programs like the Best of Home Care Awards critical to helping consumers make the most informed decisions about home care services. Often, those consumers are family caregivers.

“We provide all of the services you would expect from home care,” Paul said. “But what sets us apart is this: When you’re a family caregiver who’s taking care of a loved one, you have to be there in the middle of the night. You have to be willing to sacrifice your own needs to tend to those of your loved one. You have to be ready to make the most difficult of decisions. In those moments, you need to be connected. You need peace of mind. You want someone alongside you who can anticipate your needs. You want someone to care for your loved one, and to care for you. That’s the role we play.”

FirstLight Home Care of Woodbridge delivers Personal Care Services, which provide assistance with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, mobility, meal preparation and more. It provides Companion Care Services like light housekeeping and laundry, errands and transportation and even visits from caregivers to keep a client company. The home care leader also offers specialty services, such as its Dementia Care, Travel Companion Program and Respite Care, to meet the unique needs of its clients. And much more.

Paul said FirstLight Home Care of Woodbridge couldn’t succeed without the most exceptional caregivers.

“We hire only the best candidates who are as fanatical as we are about three things: our unwavering commitment to build and sustain healthy relationships, our unique Culture of Care and our expectation for everyone on the team to go the extra mile for each other and the families we serve,” Paul said. “We’re very selective, and we consider our team part of our extended family. That’s why we have a 97 percent retention rate. It’s also why our clients continue to put their trust in us.”

Since 2015, FirstLight Home Care has provided non-medical home care services to people throughout the Washington, D.C. Metro area, including the communities of Woodbridge, Burke, Clifton, Fairfax Station, Alexandria, Arlington and others in Northern Virginia.
