We’d like to give a special thanks to our dedicated caregivers. Without your hard work, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
I want to call your attention to, and express my deep gratitude for, the incredible service that my family has received from Amanda. My guess is that most people only take the time to write complaints, and I would like to take this opportunity to lavish praise on a very worthy recipient.
FirstLight has cared for my elderly parents for the past 2-1/2 years, with professionalism and love. Amanda is always available, promptly answering my emails at any time of day or evening, and even on weekends. It’s not just a job for her; she has taken a deep, personal interest in my parents, visiting them often, and spending quality time with them. When my mother was in a nursing home, Amanda visited both her and my father who was still at home. My 94-year-old dad looks forward to Amanda’s visits, because she is such a bright light (and she also brings his favorite chocolates).
Amanda also closely supervises the aides who work for her, and makes sure that they are carrying out their responsibilities. If I ever have a concern, Amanda is completely open to feedback, and promptly acts on my requests. We have had minimal turnover, and we have never had someone we felt we couldn’t rely upon. Based on my prior experience with a different agency, I
know how unusual and special that is. Amanda has truly and consistently gone above and beyond for my family. What motivates me to write this letter today is that recently, she was able to arrange a Covid-19 vaccine for my dad when I couldn’t get him an appointment. Beyond that, when there was a snafu in the confirmation process for the second vaccine, Amanda did not leave anything to chance. After she and I emailed over the course of a Sunday evening, she took it upon herself to go to the vaccination site, where she met up with the aides who transported my dad, and she ran interference to make sure my dad got his vaccine.
As remarkable as that was, it is not an isolated incident. In the Fall of 2019, my mother needed emergency surgery while my brother and I were both out of the country. At that time, my parents shared an aide, who had accompanied my mother to the hospital, and the aide needed to go home to care for my father. Without any request from any of the family members, Amanda went
to the hospital, waited for my mother to awaken from anesthesia, and then made sure that she had a full meal and was settled in before leaving. This was above and beyond anything I expected from the owner of a homecare agency, and I will be appreciative of this loving gesture forever.
Amanda has shown my parents incomparable devotion and service. I can truly say that I sleep at night because I know Amanda is on the job, and I could not be more grateful.
