FirstLight Home Care – South Sound is thrilled to announce that Katy Romero has been named our 2016 Caregiver of the Year!
According to FirstLight co-owner Sarah Lane, Katy continually goes above and beyond to care for her clients.
“Katy has a big heart and really cares about the well-being of her clients,” said Lane. “Two of her clients are veterans suffering from TBI and PTSD. Katy was willing to complete extra training just to work with these wounded warriors.”
Originally from Illinois, Katy received her Home Care Aide license after taking care of her husband when he sustained injuries in the military. She and her husband have lived in Thurston County since 2006.
Lane added that Katy quickly gains the trust and her clients and their families rave about her.
“Katy knows my needs and matches my personality,” said Chris, one of Katy’s clients. “She is an absolute angel and it feels like we are old friends.”
Katy, who has two daughters, said that being a caregiver is a rewarding experience.
“While I believe all of us who work in caregiving love making a difference in peoples’ lives,” she explained, “I personally feel each one of my clients help me more than I help them. Each one brings something different that not only helps me be a better caregiver, but a better person.”
Congratulations, Katy, and thank you for all you do for our clients and their families!
