Preserving An ‘Ageless’ Mindset

Preserving An 'Ageless' MindsetThe simple truth is that your age is not determined by how chronologically old you might be.  It’s how you feel that’s most important.

Your spirit has no age.  It’s your energy and attitude that makes up the essence of your life force.  And who you are isn’t determined by how long you’ve been alive, but by your outlook and how you approach today and the days to come.

Don’t let the life you’ve lived wear you down and suck from you the energy that is required to live to your fullest today!  Instead, embrace resilience and live with a vibrant attitude that belies your calendar age.

Here are six ways to live that will help preserve a state of mind that’s “ageless”!

1.  Live Without Age Limits

Don’t pass on an opportunity because you think you’re to old. Sister Madonna Buder is a Roman Catholic nun — and, at age 82, is the oldest person ever (man or woman) to finish an Ironman triathlon, which consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run (aka, a marathon).

2.  Try Something You’ve Always Wanted To

Take advantage of the freedom that growing older gives you to no longer care about what people think.  Always wanted to play the piano? Do it! Wanted to try painting or woodworking? Now is the time! If you’ve ever thought about it, give it a try.

3.  Move!

Activity is good for the body, mind and soul. Take a yoga class, learn Tai Chi or enroll in ballroom dancing classes — or maybe all three!

4.  Share Your Life Experience With Others

Living life means lessons learned and there are people who are interested in hearing your story and benefiting from your experience. Consider starting a blog or writing an article for a local media outlet about something you’ve learned or experienced. Don’t fancy yourself a writer? Take a class and learn a new skill. Who knows? You might have a knack for it.

5.  Challenge Yourself

It’s important to never stop learning. Challenge yourself by learning a new language, mastering a new skill or studying a new subject matter.  Not only will it keep your mind sharp, you’ll also experience the personal satisfaction of a new achievement.

6.  Be Joyful

Most important, no matter what you choose to do, choose to be joyful and surround yourself with people who share that positive, vibrant attitude towards life and will love and support you no matter what.
