Companion Care Services
Keeping You Independent
FirstLight Home Care in Sugar Land offers a variety of companion care and at home care services to clients at home or in a hospital or other healthcare setting. We can provide in-home companion service or 24-hour care. We offer assistance for chronically ill clients or a family member who is recovering from surgery.
Regular Visits, Conversation, and Company
We understand how lonely it can be living alone or being a caretaker for a spouse who is in ill health. Sometimes having a visitor to look forward to can lighten that loneliness. A FirstLight companion will be happy to visit with a client for compassionate conversation or perhaps to share a meal. We can be the bright spot in your loved one’s day.
Our caregivers can assist with medications. They are not able to administer them, but they can give reminders and help with pre-measured medicines. They can also monitor for side effects or other concerning symptoms. We can also help with home healthcare technology solutions such as special medical dispensers. Just ask one of our caregivers.
We know that seniors often don’t get the nutrition they need because it’s not enjoyable to cook for one and then to have to clean up after the meal. Our FirstLight Sugar Land home companion care team can be sure your loved one eats a healthy diet and maintains appropriate nutrition for the medications they are taking. You will rest better knowing that their nutritional needs are taken care of. Our companions even do the dishes!
At FirstLight Home Care, we know the importance of a clean home to a client’s state of mind. Our companion caregivers are happy to help with light cleaning of bathrooms and kitchens; organizing rooms, drawers, and closets; dusting; vacuuming; and taking out the trash. Let us help!
Does your loved one need help with laundry because of mobility problems, joint pain, or fatigue? Our caregivers will provide laundry services that will save clients and families time and effort. They will do the washing, drying, and folding and will put away bed linens, towels, and clothing. They will even do the ironing!
Shopping, Errands, and Transportation
Running errands can be a major concern for clients who want to remain independent in their homes. We consider addressing this need critical to a client’s well-being. FirstLight caregivers will help with transportation for errands or socializing. Or they can run needed errands themselves. They will shop for groceries, pick up prescriptions, or drop off the dry cleaning. Let us know your loved one’s favorite stores, and leave the rest to us.
With our ClientFirst matching system, FirstLight learns your loved one’s habits and interests. We use this to match them with specific home companions. Scrabble or cribbage? Our caregivers are glad to join in. Concerts, lectures, or a bingo game? They are happy to accompany the client on outings as well.
Mail and Paperwork Organization
Piles of unopened mail and unpaid bills can be distressing. When asked by our clients or families, our companions will help to open, read, and organize the clutter of household paperwork, bills, and important documents.
For clients and families who prefer round-the-clock home care, FirstLight in Sugar Land offers fulltime companion and home care services. We offer temporary and permanent arrangements where a companion caregiver resides in the home.
24-Hour Home Care
As a leader in the in-home care technology industry, FirstLight offers a secure, Internet-based monitoring system called Client Care Access. This system works with our high-quality personal emergency response system devices to provide 24-hour monitoring. With this tool, in-home caregivers are standing by at any time day or night for emergency support of clients and their families.
Family Respite Care
At FirstLight, while the client is our first priority, we understand that families also need care. Our respite service can help primary caregivers get much-needed breaks to refresh and recharge. Whether children, spouses, other relatives, or friends, caregivers need rest and personal time in order to give their loved ones the best possible care.
