A note about dementia patients specifically – holistic care for dementia is a unique skill and personality and was hard to find in Beaufort with any agency. This was clear at the time and became clearer when my mom moved to a larger area with highly trained people in dementia care. First Light did it best of the three and kept mom safe while we kept her in her home. -

We required services across all shifts, morning, afternoon, and overnight, and frequently had to switch things up due to doctor and hospital visits. … More FirstLight was first of all very compassionate from the first visit when the full range of services was explained and arranged. Heather was very flexible as we had to often cancel or rearrange services, and when FirstLight had to cancel or rearrange they gave notice and tried to backfill the services quickly. The most important part is the amount of compassion in the services – all of the providers demonstrated obvious care beyond the simple requirement of caregiving. We shared in dad's care, in prayers, and even after he passed away FirstLight continued compassion with most caregivers reaching out to express condolences. Thank you! -

First lite has been taking care of my 89 yr old father for About a year, now. For the most part, I am very pleased with them. We have had some ups and downs with people not showing up for the shift, and I have to work. In my opinion they … More should be more strict on the people who don't show up. Like old school, a dr.note, perhaps. Also, they have put new girls in my dad's house without training. In my opinion,again, they should have at least 3 unpaid shifts to follow a caregiver who has been there for a while. Other than that, there are some great girls that work for 1st lite, and they do their best with call-ins ,but be prepared, you might have to find someone yourself.some of the girls scheduled for weekends especially, dont show, then ur stuck. But, they do try to find someone. Make sure you tell them what you need and are looking for. Heather and her team put their heart and souls into their work. As well as some of the cargivers. I would hire them again, however, it is expensive, but no more than any other. They are all expensive! I love all the girls, and appreciate everything they have done for us! -
