My brother’s and I had to make a tough decision for our Dad as his Alzheimer's and dementia is getting worse. The … More search process wasn’t going well but after we had such a good visit with the staff from FirstLight in Palm Beach, we decided there was no one else to look into. They were all friendly and knowledgeable about my father’s condition. While he needed some encouragement in the early days, now he really enjoys the setup and is doing well at his own place. -

A brief synopsis…
My siblings and I needed immediate assistance for my 86 year old Dad (still living in the family home). As I stated above, it was a pure coincidence that I found FirstLight. Their name appeared on a website of home health care agencies provided by my employer. I simply picked them off the site. What good fortune!!
When I began speaking with Chris Ruth, he inquired if my Dad was a veteran. I said, "Yes, a Korean War vet." Chris replied that there were certain veteran benefits he and his agency could assist us in applying for. Wow!! What valuable information. My family had no idea benefits were provided to vets that live in their home. As a result, a portion of the FirstLight monthly fees were subsidized by the VA. Chris, and his wonderful staff facilitated, and coordinated, Dad's available benefits with the local VA office.
From Chris Ruth to the office staff to the coordinators (in our case, Dawn, who was fantastic to work with) to the in-home aides, look no further for piece of mind!! -
I had been taking care of my grandmother for a month when she had her fall. After a successful hip surgery, the rehab became a real problem and she struggled to better. I noticed I wasn’t as helpful to her as I seemed to be in the past … More so I consulted with my siblings about whether we could get her dedicated care and keep her in her home. After lots of searching and meetings we found FirstLight in Palm Beach. They send a CNA three times a week right now to help my grandma get better. The service is professional and I know she enjoys her time with them. It was a solution we didn’t think was possible but working with FirstLight and the staff in Palm Beach has been great and we’ll likely continue after she fully recovers.
