FirstLight owners Walter Savastano and Veronica Mancinelli

Veronica Mancinelli - Owner

My career has always been driven by a deep commitment to helping others. I began as a nurse in a fast-paced private ambulance setting, where I stabilized patients and provided emergency care during transport. This high-pressure environment sharpened my ability to make quick decisions and master lifesaving techniques.

I then transitioned to a psychiatric facility, where I provided compassionate care to patients in vulnerable situations, ensuring their safety while managing medication inventory and compliance with strict regulations. This role refined my ability to balance empathy with precision.

Moving into telemedicine, I combined hands-on care with technology, remotely monitoring patients with chronic conditions and assisting them with treatment plans. I also worked closely with pharmaceutical leaders like Pfizer and AstraZeneca to report adverse drug reactions.

I love to bring these diverse experiences into my own business, train personally my caregivers (CNA, PCA), especially in Dementia and Alzheimer’s care, with the aim of delivering high-quality care, fostering community well-being, and making a meaningful impact in people’s lives.

Walter Savastano, Managing director

As an engineer and a manager, my career has always been driven by a commitment to people—supporting teams, fostering growth, and creating environments where individuals feel valued.

As I progressed into leadership roles, managing organizations of hundred people, I focused on mentorship, team development, and ensuring that employees had the tools and support they needed to succeed. Traveling and working across different countries reinforced my belief that strong relationships and a people-first approach are key to any successful organization.

Leading business operations in 3 continents and the U.S., I prioritized both performance and employee well-being, staying connected with teams at every level and ensuring a culture of respect and support.

This venture allows me to apply my leadership experience and dedication to helping others in a more direct and meaningful way—building a company centered on care, respect, and community impact.

Lora-Jean Estremera, Networker

With over 12 years of experience in home and long-term care, I bring a strong foundation in patient-centered support, paired with a deep understanding of how to navigate care needs with compassion and clarity.

Today, in my role as a networker, I focus on building meaningful relationships with referral sources and local partners. I use my background in caregiving and healthcare administration to bridge the gap between families and the support they need—delivering solutions that are thoughtful, personalized, and trusted.

Every connection is a chance to make a real impact. I’m here to guide, support, and serve as a reliable resource for those looking to provide the best possible care.

Cassandra MacDonald, Care coordinator and Scheduler

With 8 years in administrative work, and 6 years in the home care industry, I bring a strong background in Caregiver Recruitment and scheduling. I focus on building relationships and getting to know each of our Clients and Caregivers individually to ensure the perfect match is made. My passion for helping Seniors comes from my personal experience as a family Caregiver.

Today in my role as a Care Coordinator and Scheduler, I focus on the daily operations within the office, coordinating care for our Clients, Caregiver recruitment and retention. I take pride in making sure each FirstLight Client has their best day, every day.
