What a pleasure it is to be able to write a review of FirstLight Home Care of Volusia. We unfortunately picked another company before we chose FirstLight to care for our father. After the first company did not meet our expectations, we were skeptical that we would find the right fit for dad. After speaking with John Bordas (owner) and being completely transparent with my concerns and recent disappointing experience, he reassured me that the care dad would receive would be exactly what we expect. This company not only has met our expectations, but they have exceeded them. My father has a couple very specific requests and FirstLight has been incredibly accommodating. We have caregivers in our home 5-6 days a week for quite sometime and LOVE the consistency of these amazing individuals. Nicolay, Kelsi, Madison, Elaine, and Serap have ALL been great with dad!! Each time we get to meet a different caregiver, I have been so impressed by each individual John has hired for this amazing team.
Inviting someone into your home and having to make a difficult decision to have them take care of you or your loved one can be quite a stressful experience. I highly recommend FirstLight to be your first call.

Leigh Anne And Serap Have been with us from the beginning As respite caregivers from 11 PM to 7 AM. They have been loving and caring for my husband who had a concussion Last December.
They are able to stay up all night accompany him On many bathroom trips, tuck Him back in
His bed, Talk with him during the night if he is having a nightmare, Check and change his pull-ups if necessary. We couldn’t be happier.

I was in search of home care for my mother-in-law, who the family had placed in an assisted living/memory care facility in Port Orange, FL. What a mistake! It was a horrible decision. When we decided to bring her home, I searched for many hours and days for just the right fit for my mother-in-law’s care at home. It was both time-consuming and complicated. My initial contact with FirstLight was with John Bordas, the owner of the company. John was kind, patient, caring, and listened to everything I was worried about concerning home care and aides for my mother-in-law. He, himself, had been through the same situation with his Grandfather as we were, which caused him to start his business, FirstLight. He was very helpful and forthright with every bit of information he could provide me to help me navigate through the process. We did choose FirstLight for the end of my mother-in-law’s life care, and we were not disappointed. John provided the most wonderful aides for her. We felt they were part of the family, even though they were not there for very long, since my mother-in-law passed away fairly quickly after we brought her home. I can’t say enough about this company. One aide in particular, Norma, was the kindest, most soft-spoken, and caring person I have ever met. Any family that has Norma in their lives as an aide or companion for their loved one, will be blessed. You will be so happy with FirstLight if you chose to use them. I only wish I had called them before we made the decision to place Mom in a facility instead of keeping her home for her remaining time. Thank you, John, for everything you did to help me and my family. You went above and beyond with all the help you provided me in making the right decision.

My caregiver Talia has done a beautiful job, she’s like a daughter I never got to have. She’s try’s everything to make sure I’m comfortable and happy it makes it her mission to make sure my daily life is easier.
I contacted first light in reference to help my grandmother with daily needs and getting to appointments, so, far the services have been great. She is happy, I am updated every week with things regarding her care they try and match the client up with a staff member that’s compatible, John and Rebecca have been great at communicating things with me regarding her care and needs.
