Meet Isaac and Courtney Miller, Owners
Isaac and Courtney have spent much of their careers leading and supporting organizations that serve families during important and often emotional moments. Isaac’s background spans law, business leadership, and the end-of-life profession, while Courtney has built her career leading growth and strategy for organizations serving families and funeral professionals.
Their decision to open FirstLight Home Care of West Des Moines was also deeply personal. After helping Isaac’s mom navigate multiple major surgeries, they experienced firsthand how difficult it can be for families to coordinate care, respond to changing needs, and find dependable support while balancing the other responsibilities of life. That experience deepened their appreciation for the difference a trusted support system can make for an entire family.
Today, they bring those personal and professional experiences together with a shared commitment to providing the kind of home care they would want for their own family—rooted in responsiveness, clear communication, consistency, and genuine care for both clients and the people who love them.

Meet Lyla, Tara Lynn & Coco — Our “Chief Happiness Officers"
Every family business needs a little extra joy. At FirstLight Home Care of West Des Moines, that responsibility belongs to our Co-CHOs — Chief Happiness Officers Lyla, Tara Lynn, and Coco, the Miller family’s Cavapoo.
Lyla and Tara Lynn are growing up alongside FirstLight and will be part of the business in ways that fit their ages, whether that means helping with caregiver appreciation, joining community events and service projects, or simply making sure there’s a little more fun around the office. Coco’s responsibilities generally involve welcoming visitors, boosting morale, and accepting attention (and belly rubs!) whenever available.
For Isaac and Courtney, involving the girls in FirstLight is about more than having extra helpers. It’s a chance for them to see firsthand what it means to work hard, serve others, and make people feel valued—lessons they hope will stay with them long after their tenure as Co-CHOs.
