Home Care is Not a Career, It’s a Calling

We know your first priority when choosing a home care provider is finding someone you can trust and rely on… someone who will care for your loved one as you would, and as we would our own. We’ve been where you are, and this is one of the main reasons we chose to be in this business.

Andy Rickman, President

As President, Andy manages FirstLight Home Care of Asheville and leads the community relations and business development efforts.

Andy was born and raised in Asheville, NC and graduated from Western Carolina University with a B.A. in Education. Prior to opening his FirstLight office in Asheville, Andy served in a number of business development and management positions with several Information Technology services organizations in Atlanta, GA. In those roles, he developed programs and campaigns to promote a range of telecommunications business services.

In 2015, Andy decided to move back home to Asheville, NC to be closer to his family. Several years later, he began taking care of his mother who was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. Since then, Andy has personally seen the growing need for high-quality caregiving services with the primary goal of helping people remain independent. He understands firsthand the difficulty of caring for loved ones, as well as the challenges of finding qualified and compassionate resources to provide that much-needed care.

Opening the FirstLight Home Care office in Asheville is an opportunity for Andy to give back to the community, to seniors and others in his hometown and the surrounding Western North Carolina area, by offering an important service—one which has such a significant impact on quality of life.

Andy has two grown daughters, Amber and Brooke, and a son-in-law, Aaron, who serves in the 101st Airborne Division.
