Steve and Jennifer Rattner, Owners

Local residents Steve and Jennifer Rattner have always shared a vision of doing the right thing for others and lending a helping hand when needed. With over 25 years of experience in healthcare and business management, Steve was happy with his position at a leading healthcare organization. Yet, with an entrepreneurial spirit, when Steve was faced with the opportunity to open FirstLight Home Care, he jumped at the chance to build a more rewarding career and make a positive and meaningful impact on his Florida community.  (Pinellas & Pasco County)

From an early age, Steve always had a special relationship with his Grandparents, Nana & Papa. When Nana & Papa moved to Florida, Steve moved to Florida to attend college and remain close to them. He would visit them regularly throughout the week to help with transportation to the doctor, meals, trips to the grocery store, and socialization. Eventually, Papa passed, and Steve’s bond with Nana grew even stronger. It was a special relationship that helped shape Steve’s character, his kindness and his compassion for others in need. After a long battle with cancer, Nana passed away under the care of hospice. It was Steve’s special relationship with his grandparents that motivated him to jump into the business of Florida caregiving. Steve’s wish is to provide the same high quality, personalized, and compassionate elderly care to those who are in need of an extra hand, as he was able to provide for his Nana & Papa.

Similarly, his wife Jennifer had a successful 24-year career in retail management where she specialized in providing value and exceptional customer experiences. She saw FirstLight as an opportunity to utilize her expertise to help others in need and help Steve build a great company that they could be proud of. For Jennifer, the decision to start FirstLight Home Care of Pinellas County was personal. Jennifer’s parents are aging well at home, and she sees the benefits helping them maintain a strong sense of dignity and independence. The Rattners intend to make FirstLight Home Care of Pinellas County a valuable resource for those in need. With the aging population of baby boomers wanting to remain in-home and independent for as long as possible, FirstLight is committed to meet this growing need and take the opportunity to better educate the community about the options available to them. People who are caring for aging parents need to plan financially for the future and need to weigh all options available for long-term care. FirstLight Home Care services all of Pinellas County and Pasco County.

Amber Case , Scheduling Coordinator

Amber has been in the business of caregiving all of her adult life with a broad range of experience including caring for family, home health, assisted living facilities, and more. According to Amber, she didn’t chose this line of work…. it chose her. Her passion is to help those in need and provide the best quality of life as she would want for her own family. Amber joined First LightHome Care as a Caregiver who was respected and well-liked by her clients and co-workers. She quickly established herself as an expert in her field. As a result of Amber’s quality work, she was promoted to Scheduling Coordinator for FirstLight Home Care. Amber now applies her skills to the interactions she has with clients, family members, and care team members on a daily basis. Amber consistently goes “above and beyond” for our clients and care team, and we are so fortunate to have her in the FirstLight family.

Jalanika Whiting, Community Liaison

Jalanika started with First Light Home Care as a caregiver, providing companionship and personal care for FirstLight’s clients.  It was quickly determined that Jalanika was a superstar in her role. Her clients, family members, and co-workers all raved about her work ethic, compassion, and her ability to improve quality of life.  Jalanika was promoted into the office as a Schedule Coordinator where she continued her superstar status.  After excelling in this position, Jalanika was promoted into the Inside Sales Coordinator position, followed by another promotion as FirstLight’s Outside Community Liaison where she educates the community and referral sources about the different services FirstLight Home Care provides.  Jalanika has excellent organizational and communication skills, and has earned immediate respect from our clients, referral sources, and care team members.  We are proud of Jalanika’s accomplishments and look forward to many more years of success at FirstLight Home Care.
