FirstLight of Southeast Valley Owner Sonia Salam Featured in Voyage Phoenix
Sonia Salam, owner of FirstLight Home Care of Southeast Valley, was recently featured in Voyage Phoenix’s “Daily Inspiration” series. She talked about the personal experience that led her to home care and what she’s built since opening in 2025.
Sonia’s story starts with her mom. After her mother had a heart attack in 2024, Sonia’s family hired in-home care and ended up with a revolving door of inexperienced caregivers. That experience shapes how she runs her business today. She matches caregivers to clients based on personality, experience and needs, and she keeps the same caregiver in place so trust can grow. She still does client assessments herself. In under two years, her office has grown from zero Google reviews to a 5-star rating, and it now serves families across Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe and the surrounding Southeast Valley.
“Asking for help isn’t giving up,” Sonia said. “It’s how you get to stop being her full-time caregiver and go back to being her daughter.”
