What happens when your parents or in-laws can’t take care of themselves anymore? For example:
- they no longer can drive or run their own errands
- they fall and break a hip
- they haven’t bathed or eaten properly in weeks
- they’re diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, cancer or other illness

Home Care Is The Best Care For Mom
You may initially provide care yourself. But with a full-time job and kids’ activities, it can be exhausting and even impossible to do it all: doctor’s appointments, errands, bathing, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, etc.
What can you do?
There are two basic options (assuming ongoing skilled nursing is not required):
- In-Home Care (from a caregiver at home)
- Facility Care (in an Assisted Living, Memory Care or Board & Care Facility)
80% of people prefer to live in their homes as long as possible, rather than move into a facility. Some parents make their kids promise NEVER to move them into a facility. Why?
- Homes are a familiar setting. There is an emotional connection to them and the memories that were formed there. And there is no need to acclimate to a new environment.
- In-Home care is one-on-one. You have a dedicated caregiver just for you. In facilities, a single caregiver might have 12 or more residents to care for. In this case, the residents can become frustrated waiting for care (including dealing with incontinence)
- Moving is stressful – fear of the unknown, detachment from a familiar neighborhood, sorting through a lifetime of belongings – they all can cause anxiety
FirstLight Home Care will help your parents or your in-laws remain in the comfort of home. We provide:
- Companion Care: light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders, transportation, companionship, etc.
- Personal Care: personal hygiene, transfers / mobility assistance, moderate dementia care
- Advanced Care: bedbound care, advanced dementia care
