David Kim, Co-Owner
David is the co-owner of FirstLight Home Care of Sunnyvale. David had a long career in medical devices, applying his degree in biomedical engineering to help create technologies that help save people’s lives every day. David found deep meaning in work that made a tangible difference in the lives of others but sought to find work that made an even more direct impact. He found his way back home in home care where he can focus on supporting the communities, clients and families in the places that he knows best. David prides himself on being involved directly in the care of each of his clients and their families and working in collaboration with the families to create care plans that work for the family’s needs. David’s love for food is reflected in the fact that he is always working on getting into shape. And, he insists that round is a shape.
Ruth Kim, Co-Owner
Ruth is the co-owner of FirstLight Home Care of Sunnyvale. Ruth also had a long career in medical devices, focusing on creating the systems and procedures that ensured that the companies met regulatory requirements. Ruth is the backbone of FirstLight, handling all the invoicing, billing, and payroll while also managing the recruitment and training of our amazing caregivers. Ruth loves creating order and calm out of chaos and loves to extend that control and predictability to everything that she touches. Ruth studied deaf-blind communication and has always had a heart to provide help and support to those that need it. Her personal experience of caring for her grandmother who had dementia created a foundation for her calling to do what we do at FirstLight every day. Ruth spends her free time making sure that all the red notification bubbles on her phone are dismissed and seeking out the answer to “What’s for lunch?”
Phoebe Kim, Marketing Manager
Phoebe is the Marketing Manager at FirstLight Home Care of Sunnyvale, where she brings creativity, strategy and plenty of heart to everything she does. At her core, Phoebe loves to help, and through her role she does that by equipping families with the information they need to make confident care decisions. She finds meaningful (and sometimes outside-the-box) ways to share the FirstLight story with the community. Phoebe leads marketing initiatives, manages social media and plans events. Whether she is organizing an event or spreading the word online, she is dedicated to celebrating the professional caregivers who make FirstLight’s mission possible and ensuring families feel informed and confident in their care decisions. Fueled by coffee and carbs, she’s always thinking of fun new ways to highlight what makes FirstLight Home Care of Sunnyvale so special.
Brandy Kim
Brandy is the one that is really in charge of everything, and she knows it. Don’t be fooled by her 7 lb. appearance, she knows exactly how to make sure she gets what she wants. Brandy’s heart is to make everyone she meets smile and she is very successful at doing this. She enjoys long walks (along the beach is great!), eating anything that the people around her are eating and relaxing in one of her many dog beds (9 at last count!). Brandy is unable to make regular appearances at the office, but can be coaxed to make appearances for special events.
