FirstLight uses W-2 employee caregivers, multiple screening steps, background checks, reference checks, a proprietary caregiver assessment, onboarding, training, and supervision. The goal is not simply to send the first available person. The goal is to introduce someone with the right skills, warmth, reliability, and personality for the family situation.

FirstLight does not require weekly minimums and does not use a strict hourly minimum, but shorter shifts can be harder to staff well and may carry a higher hourly rate.
