Helping People through Home Care in the Communities of
Needham, Newton, Wellesley and Surrounding Cities and Towns
At FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston, we provide innovative home care services for Needham, Newton, and surrounding communities throughout West Suburban Boston. Our quality caregiving solutions are perfect for the elderly, mothers with a newborn baby or anyone needing help with daily tasks at home. Our talented caregivers offer quality companion and personal care solutions for you or your loved ones, giving you peace-of-mind knowing that the help you need is there. We accept Long Term Care Insurance (including the assignment of benefits) to help families provide exceptional care for their loved one.
Members of our office team participated in the Greater Boston Walk to End Alzheimer’s the other day. We took a step in the fight to support those facing Alzheimer’s and all dementias by participating as a team and fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association. Thank you to everyone who made a donation–our many clients, friends, family members, caregivers, and others. We exceeded our team fundraising goal and had a great time supporting the organization’s event in a safe, socially distant way.
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: We are closely monitoring the Coronavirus and frequently update our Protocols. Please read our latest update (also appearing at the very top of this page).
In our recent celebration of National CNA Week, we recognized all of our amazing caregivers. In this short video, the office team shared some words which come to mind–words which reflect how our caregivers inspire us. And we introduced our new Weekend On-Call Specialist, Melander Taylor (we are thrilled to have Melander on-board–learn more about Melander in this post). To our caregivers, you really are everything to us. Watch the video here.
To get a sense of the compassion of our exceptional, employee caregivers, please read the Boston Globe story or watch the TV news report of how Amanda found a cat for her 76 year-old Client, Rosemary.
As a supporter and donor to the Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) and member of the affiliated, Massachusetts Business Immigration Coalition, we stand firmly with the peaceful protesters who seek justice and systematic change. Read more about our support.
Find out what Wendy Adlerstein, LSW, our Executive Director and Owner, suggests in the hiring of the right personal care aide in her interview in U.S. News & World Report, “5 Steps for Selecting a Personal Care Aide for Mom and Dad“. Read Wendy’s recommendations for wellness checks during the holidays (still relevant this winter) from the Boston-area newspaper group, Wicked Local and the Needham Times and read Wendy’s suggestions for making your home more comfortable in a U.S. News’ interview, “6 Factors to Consider Before Using Your Retirement Savings for Caregiving.”
Watch Wendy discuss aging in place in this video from Real Estate Talk Boston.
Please take some time to listen to Wendy in an interview on the Engaging Voices podcast. Wendy shares how she became interested in gerontology, the importance of empathy and communication in the business of care, and how she connects with stressed clients and families. In addition, Wendy provides an inside view on what makes FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston different from other home care providers.
We have been pleased to support the Newton Senior Center over the years through the sponsorship of programming such as their LGBTQ Dinner. We are also proud sponsors of the foundations which support the Wellesley Senior Center and the Needham senior center, The Center at the Heights. We are proud to, once again, be a Hope Sponsor of Needham Goes Purple, a fundraising and awareness event for Alzheimer’s on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association. Our Executive Director & Owner, Wendy Adlerstein, is co-chair of the Greater Boston Alzheimer’s Walk and our office has organized a team. We welcome your donation to our fundraising efforts.
