Local Residents Open FirstLight Home Care in South Central Indiana

COLUMBUS, Ind. (Feb. 12, 2015) — FirstLight Home Care, provider of quality, affordable, non-medical in-home care for adults, is now open in Columbus. It is owned by local residents Jerry and Janet Lancaster.

FirstLight Home Care of Columbus offers complete companion and personal care services for seniors, new mothers, those recovering from surgery and others in need of assistance. Services include companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping, driving to doctors’ appointments, personal care and any other services that help the people we serve stay comfortable in their own homes.

In addition to Columbus, FirstLight Home Care will serve residents in Bargersville, Edinburgh, Franklin, Greenwood, Trafalgar, Whiteland, Elizabethtown, Freetown, Hartsville, Hope, Jonesville, Taylorsville, Nashville, Nineveh, Seymour, Reddington and Morgantown.

The Lancasters have been serving the community for more than 30 years, and now they are expanding that service to include in-home, non-medical care. Jerry Lancaster is the owner of Lancaster Hearing Aid Center, and Janet Lancaster owns South Central Indiana Interpreting (sign language). Ready for a new challenge, they looked close to home to find an opportunity where they could offer an improvement for the community.

Working with seniors and those with disabilities for more than three decades, the Lancasters know their experience will help them provide quality, caring service that meets the needs of their clients. As parents of a daughter with special needs, they also experienced first-hand the struggles of finding quality caregivers. The Lancasters know that to run a successful home care business, the caregivers are as important as the clients.

“The people who give the direct care to our daughter are the most important to us,” she said. “We want to make sure our caregivers are trustworthy, well trained and paid fairly for the incredible job they do.”

The Lancasters’ work has always aligned with their belief that we should serve one another.

“We selected FirstLight Home Care because they embody the same beliefs and focus that we do,” Jerry said. “We felt this service was needed and we could make a difference by bringing quality in-home care to the area.”

Joining the Lancasters is their son, David Lancaster, who is the office manager and community liaison. For more information on FirstLight Home Care of Columbus, please call 812-269-3800 or visit scindiana.firstlighthomecare.com.
