LOCAL RESIDENTS OPEN FIRSTLIGHT HOMECARE IN YORK

YORK, Pa. (Nov. 2, 2015) — FirstLight Home Care, provider of quality, affordable, non-medical in-home care for adults, is now open in York. It is owned by local resident Tim Mackin.

FirstLight Home Care of York offers complete companion and personal care services for seniors, new mothers, those recovering from surgery and others in need of assistance. Services include companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping, driving to doctors’ appointments, personal care and any other services that help the people we serve stay comfortable in their own homes.

In addition to York, FirstLight Home Care will serve residents throughout York County including Red Lion, Dover, Spring Grove, Wrightsville, Dallastown, Glen Rock, and Manchester.

Mackin said his enthusiasm and passion to provide this service is based on his family’s own personal experiences.

“As our parents aged and needed that extra assistance we realized that finding quality caregivers was challenging. We were fortunate to find care that enabled our parents to remain independent,” Mackin said. “We decided, at that point, in looking into our own future, that we would want exceptional care, and to make a difference in our community by offering reliable care options.

“Knowing that our loved ones had reliable care was a tremendous relief, and for us, those caregivers made a world of difference not only in our parent’s lives, but in our own as well.”

Joining Mackin is his son Richard and daughter-in-law Lisa, who both share a similar compassion for providing exceptional care to those in need.

Lisa Mackin comes to FirstLight with 15 years of medical experience. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and has worked in a variety of healthcare settings ranging from nursing homes to correctional facilities, and hospitals.  Lisa was recently honored with the 2015 Nursing Excellence Award for her contributions to Lee Memorial Health Care System and Golisano Children’s Hospital of South West Florida. Lisa was recognized by her colleagues and leaders as an outstanding and dedicated nurse who is compassionate and caring to patients and their families.

Richard has an extensive background in customer service and care.  Prior to joining the FirstLight team, he worked in the public safety industry for the 14 years. During this time, he was responsible for fostering relationships with customers to provide exceptional services.  He also dedicated many hours of his time for community based events such as the Shop with a Cop program, Memorial Day ceremonies, and the annual Christmas Parade to name a few.
