Mother-Daughter Team Opens FirstLight Location in Tucson

National home care provider expands to Tucson to meet increasing demand for home care services

TUCSON, AZ – November 30, 2021 – FirstLight® Home Care, an award-winning provider of home care services, is pleased to welcome one of its newest offices, FirstLight Home Care of Tucson.

The location is operated by an experienced mother-daughter team, owner Katharine Lopez and her mother, Sarah Wilson, who serves as Client Care Coordinator and Office Manager. The caregiving team at FirstLight Home Care of Tucson delivers quality, essential home care services to residents in Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, and the surrounding communities.

Lopez discovered her passion for helping seniors at the age of 18 when she worked her first job as a caregiver. Her compassion for the elderly population continued over the years as Lopez served as a volunteer caregiver, delivered food with Meals on Wheels and organized monthly craft activities at a local nursing home.

“I am happy to have found a way to combine my experience in business operation, ownership and entrepreneurship with my personal calling,” said Lopez. “I appreciate the immeasurable value of family. My mission is to give family caregivers the support they need to help their loved ones live a life of comfort, dignity and joy in the place they call home while also providing peace of mind.”

Caring for our nation’s veterans

Care for veterans is central to the home care services FirstLight Home Care of Tucson provides. Lopez spent six years with the New Mexico Army National Guard as a health care specialist (combat medic). Her grandfather was on the Bataan Death March during World War II, and he was a prisoner of war. This team has a heart for service and a passion for helping those who have served our country.

On Veterans Day, the Tucson team participated in “Stars for Our Troops” where stars from retired American flags that can no longer fly are placed into plastic sleeves and given to veterans as a symbol of gratitude for their service. Lopez visited with many veterans in her community to distribute the stars and let them know they are not forgotten.

Bringing essential home care services, jobs to the community

FirstLight Home Care of Tucson provides non-medical home care services to individuals who need support at home, including seniors, veterans, adults with disabilities and those recuperating. Highly trained FirstLight caregivers help with many needs, from errands, transportation and household tasks to individual responsibilities like bathing and personal hygiene.

The company is also proud to create caregiver jobs in the market. They are committed to investing in their team by providing comprehensive training and offering flexible schedules, competitive wages, a fun, caring environment, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.
