Serving Veterans in the Boston area with the Care and Respect They Have Earned

FirstLight Home Care of Boston Northwest is honored to be a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) approved provider for home care services. These services include bathing and personal hygiene, wheelchair transfer and mobility assistance, socialization, meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, etc. To enable our veterans to live life to the fullest in the comfort of their own homes, we also provide specialized Dementia and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) training to all our caregivers.

Many veterans are unaware that ALL Veterans enrolled in the VA healthcare system are eligible for home care if they meet the clinical need for the service – they do not need to be a war-time veteran or have a service-connected disability. As a VA-authorized home care provider, we can help veterans navigate the process of enrolling and potentially qualifying for benefits at zero out-of-pocket cost.  Contact us today!

VA Credentials

VA Home and Community Based Services

Veteran Affairs Home and Community Based Services offer in-home care for veterans and community-based services that can help chronically ill, elderly or disabled individuals remain living in their homes. Under FirstLight’s veteran care services, professional caregivers can assist veterans of any age with their daily activities at home. These services can be used as a part of an alternative to nursing home care or to get home care for veterans and respite care for their family caregivers.

Aid Attendance Benefits

Aid & Attendance Benefits

Aid & Attendance is available to eligible veterans and their surviving spouses who require assistance with things such as eating, bathing and medication reminders, even if the assistance is not a direct result of a service-related injury. FirstLight can provide non-medical home care for veterans under the Aid & Attendance program, as well as companion and personal care services to anyone 18 years of age and older.

Best Home Care Agency for Veterans

Hear from our Veterans and their families on their FirstLight experience:

  • “First Light Home Care is wonderful! It is a team approach and every member of the team is positive, professional, and genuine. We are so grateful for the care given to our dad, a Veteran. We especially appreciate the ongoing communication. First Light is top notch and we are very thankful to have found them. If you are looking for a family member – look no further.”
  • “I would recommend them because they are dependable. The agency has shown up on time to make my experience positive.”
  • “FirstLight has exceeded my expectations for finding a new caregiver for my father. Girish met with us and not only really listened for what we needed, but engaged with my dad and gave me a sense of genuine care and concern for helping him, helping us. We really like our new caregiver and she too has exceeded our expectations. We’re about 4-5 weeks in and I feel relief that my dad is in good hands, and we are in good hands – FirstLight continues to check in and make sure things are good. This can be a very difficult decision amongst a long list of things you have to figure out for care of a loved one but I feel FirstLight truly cares and really wants to help not only the person who needs the care but ensures the family feels comfortable and supported as well. I have recommended to another friend, and I would recommend to anyone – especially if you are hesitant, frantic and/or overwhelmed to get some help, it’s worth a phone call or a visit with FirstLight.”
  • “FirstLight does a terrific job. If the home care person is unable to come, they are very prompt and efficient in getting me somebody else.”
  • “My dad is a US Navy Vietnam Veteran who is bedridden and paralyzed. We have First Light Home Care services through VA funding. I was hesitant at first leaving my dad alone with an unknown care giver, he had been through so much with nursing home neglect, but when Ashley showed up at my home, she made it seem as if she was one of our family members. She is the best, very attentive, knowledgeable and so friendly and kind. All my fears disappeared and most of all my dad feels safe. He actually can’t wait for Ashley to show up the next day. I am very grateful that we have Ashley and the entire administrative staff at FirstLight Home Care. They are all very nice and have quick response times for changes in schedules or any issues that come up.”
