Companion Care Services
Keeping You Independent
At FirstLight Home Care of Springfield, we can provide assistance to clients in any setting—at home or in an assisted-living facility, nursing home, or hospital. We offer the communities of Springfield, Lorton, Alexandria, and Franconia companion care and at-home care services, whenever it is needed, help for chronically ill clients, and services for a family member recuperating from a surgical procedure.
Regular Visits, Conversation, and Company
Living alone or caring for a spouse who is chronically ill can be lonely. We know that having a visitor to keep them company can help alleviate the loneliness and be the highlight of that client’s day. FirstLight Home Care will schedule a companion to visit a client as often as they like for conversation and maybe even a meal.
We can also help a client with medications. Our caregivers are not allowed to administer medicines, but help with injections or oral medications. They can remind the client to take medications and help with any that are pre-measured. They can watch the client for side effects and keep an eye out for any other worrisome symptoms. And ask one of our caregivers about our home healthcare technology solutions, which include special medical dispensers.
At FirstLight Home Care, we understand how hard it can be to get seniors to eat properly. Cooking for one is lonely, and cleaning up afterward is difficult for some. Our caregivers will help to ensure that your loved one is eating healthy meals and getting correct nutrition for the medicines they’re taking. We’ll even do the cleanup!
If the client is having difficulty keeping up with the housekeeping, we can help with light cleaning chores. Our caregivers can assist with the general tidying of kitchens and bathrooms. They will gladly help with neatening drawers, closets, and rooms. They will even dust, vacuum, and take out the trash. At FirstLight Home Care, we understand that an untidy home can be stressful for our clients.
Clients who struggle with joint pain, fatigue, or difficulty getting around can take advantage of our laundry services. Our companions will wash, dry, fold, and even iron. They will put away clothing, sheets, and towels. We’re happy to help!
Shopping, Errands, and Transportation
Not being able to run errands is a major stressor to home-bound clients. It’s a threat to their independence and ability to stay in their homes. Our caregivers consider meeting this need vitally important. They will assist clients with transportation or even run errands themselves. They can pick up prescriptions, manage the dry cleaning, or do the grocery shopping. You let us know where the client likes to shop, then leave it to us.
At FirstLight Home Care, we take the time to learn the things the client likes to do. We then use our ClientFirst matching system to match the client with one of our home companions. Board games or card games? We’ll match them with a caregiver who would love to play. Concerts or lectures? Their companion will be glad to go along.
Mail and Paperwork Organization
We know that clients can feel anxious about unpaid bills and unopened mail. At the client or family’s request, our companions can help with the clutter. They will open the mail and organize the bills, paperwork, and important household documents.
If you or a family member need 24-hour care, call us to see if live-in services is something our office can provide for you. One of our companion caregivers can reside in the client’s home on a permanent or temporary basis.
24-Hour Home Care
FirstLight Home Care is an industry leader when it comes to technology for in-home care. Our Client Care Access system is a secure, Internet-based system that provides 24-hour monitoring of your home. With this system, we use high-quality emergency response system devices to have in-home caregivers standing by at all times to provide emergency support to your family.
Family Respite Care
Here at FirstLight Home Care, our first priority is our clients. But we understand that families need care, too. Take advantage of our respite service for much-needed rest. All caregivers—spouses, children, relatives, and friends—need breaks and time to themselves in order to ensure the quality of life for both themselves and the family members they care for.
FirstLight Home Care of Springfield proudly serves the communities of Lorton, Alexandria, Arlington, Franconia, Annandale, Burke, Fairfax Station, McLean, Ft. Belvoir, and Mt. Vernon with companion care and at-home care services.
