I discovered my love for working with seniors at 18 when I worked my first job as a senior caregiver.  Since then, I have done everything from paid and volunteer caregiving to delivering food with Meals on Wheels to organizing monthly craft activities at a local nursing home.  Additionally, I have always loved and thrived the most in opportunities where I could serve others including my 3 years spent teaching at a high school in Belize, Central America and my 6 years serving with the New Mexico Army National Guard as a health care specialist (combat medic).  As the owner of FirstLight Home Care of Tucson, I found a way to combine my professional business expertise (business operation and ownership and an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship) with my personal calling.  I chose FirstLight Home Care because its ‘culture of care’ reflected my own vision of service.  Finally, as the daughter of this mother-daughter team and a mom to my own three children, I understand the immeasurable value of family. As the owner of FirstLIght Home Care, I will work my hardest to give you the support you need to bring peace of mind and comfort to you and your loved one.

I have spent the past thirty years managing and owning jewelry, clothing, and gift stores in the Southwest.  This professional experience gave me the expertise in training and managing an exceptional staff, of which I had over 100, financial planning, and leadership.  Over the last several years, I had many senior customers, and many visited the store simply to have some human contact.  I was happy to become their friend and provide a place for human interaction, but I was troubled by their loneliness.  I also saw the many challenges family caregivers experienced like the elderly wife whose husband suffered from dementia or the adult daughter who struggled to care for her own kids and her elderly parents. .  Joining my daughter Katharine in opening up FirstLight Home Care of Tucson has been the perfect fit for me as I use my professional expertise to help others.  As the Office Manager and Client Care Coordinator, I work directly with each client and the family to create a custom Care Plan, make an excellent caregiver match, and maintain open communication to respond to questions and needs immediately.
