FirstLight Home Care of York Earns Home Care Pulse Best of Home Care®

FirstLight Home Care of York earns multiple honors in Home Care Pulse Best of Home Care® Awards

YORK, Penn. (February 23, 2017) – FirstLight Home Care of York, a provider of non-medical home care in East York and surrounding communities since 2015, has ben recognized as one of the country’s top home care providers by the 2017 Best of Home Care Awards.

The awards are presented annually by Home Care Pulse, the premier third-party research and quality assurance home care management firm. Based solely on feedback from clients and employees, the Best in Home Care Awards recognize home care providers that offer excellent in-home care. This is the second consecutive year FirstLight Home Care of York has earned Best of Home Care honors.

Non-medical home care provides the assistance and support people may need to live independently in their homes. Traditionally, home care providers focus services exclusively on older adults who are aging in place. But FirstLight also delivers services to adults with disabilities; those recovering from illness, injury or surgery; new mothers; and anyone aged 18 or older who may need assistance managing activities where they live. The home care segment is experiencing significant growth, making programs like the Best in Home Care Awards a critical component in helping consumers make the most informed decisions about home care services.

FirstLight Home Care of York is owned and operated by local entrepreneurs Tim and Richard Mackin. Their business earned both the Provider of Choice and the Employer of Choice awards. The Provider of Choice Award is presented to home care providers that have been a Home Care Pulse Certified – Trusted Partner for at least six consecutive months and have achieved the top 50th percentile in two or more client satisfaction categories. The Employer of Choice Award is presented to home care providers that have been a Home Care Pulse Certified – Trusted Provider for at least six consecutive months and have achieved the top 50th percentile in two or more caregiver satisfaction categories.

Tim said the deep relationships they build with their clients set FirstLight Home Care of York apart as a home care provider.

“We have a differentiated Culture of Care, and we approach care with an empathetic model. Our goal is to create relationships with our clients and their loved ones, and we work to foster those relationships,” Tim said. “By using this approach, we can gain great insight into the care that is to be provided for the client, and that helps inform our efforts to go above and beyond our clients’ expectations.”

FirstLight Home Care of York offers Personal Care Services, which provide assistance with the activities of daily living, such as bathing, mobility, meal preparation and more. It also provides Companion Care Services like light housekeeping and laundry, errands and transportation, medication reminders and even visits from caregivers to keep a client company. The home care leader also offers specialty services, such as its Dementia Care Services, Travel Companion Program and Respite Care Services, to meet the unique needs of its clients.

“Our services enable clients to maintain as much independence as possible without having to leave their homes. And they allow clients’ families to have peace of mind and know that they have an extra resource to monitor the condition of their loved ones,” Tim said.

“One of our differentiators is that our management team has ongoing partnership with our caregivers and engagement with our clients. We are the ones making the caregiver-client introduction, and we often check in when caregivers are delivering services to ensure they don’t need additional support and that our clients’ needs are being fulfilled,” Tim said. “This approach contributes to the satisfaction of both our clients and our caregivers.”

The East York provider is part of FirstLight Home Care, a national leader in home care services operating in nearly 150 markets in more than 30 states.
