On Wednesday afternoon, December 8th, a full house of about 80 seniors enjoyed a lecture and music program on the legendary entertainer, Judy Garland. FirstLight Home Care was proud to support the Needham Senior Center and Needham Council on Aging by sponsoring the program. Bruce Hambro, a history teacher and student of the American entertainment industry, presented an engaging, fascinating, one-hour review of the life and career of Judy Garland. From her vaudeville start in an all-sister act through the “Wizard of Oz” and her many movies, to her singing and television career, Bruce shared many stories about Judy. He also quizzed the audience with trivia (but was unable to stump the crowd!). Bruce also led a number of fun, sing-alongs. FirstLight held a popular drawing for three copies of the 5-CD box set featuring 100 Judy Garland songs. It was a great event for all!
