Wendy Adlerstein, LSW, Director of Client Care Services
FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston’s Director of Client Care Services’ Wendy Adlerstein, LSW was interviewed for an article on the growing Memory Cafe concept. Wendy notes that memory cafes are a “non-threatening, non-judgmental place.” Our clients say that the memory cafes offer a place to go within the community where they can be themselves.
A memory cafe is a social gathering for those personally dealing with memory loss and those who help care for those with these challenges. The goal is to have some fun, get to know others in the community with similar challenges, and to enjoy time with caring people who understand and support those living with memory loss. Anyone with memory loss or concerns about memory loss are welcome to attend and caregivers and/or spouses are encouraged to attend, as well.
The article, Cafes Break Isolation of Memory Loss, appears in several editions of Gatehouse Media’s local newspapers, which share the on-line publishing platform, Wicked Local.
