Meet one of our Extraordinary Caregivers: Rebecca R.

This is the third in a series of interview-style profiles of the hard-working and compassionate Caregivers on the FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston and Boston-Back Bay Caregiver Team.

How long have you been with FirstLight Home Care?

I have been with FirstLight for six years.

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

I needed a job that was flexible when I was attending college full-time. I liked FirstLight so much I’ve stayed on even after I graduated. Prior to working at FirstLight, I was a pharmacy technician for 10 years and wanted to transition away from the retail industry. I worked with individuals with traumatic brain injuries in a group setting and discovered that I liked working with people one-on-one. Once I started working with the senior population I was inspired by hearing their stories and have continued to work with the elderly population.

What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

I’ve been to New Orleans six times and feel like it’s my second home. I’ve always had an affinity for New Orleans – my husband and I renewed our vows there for our 10th wedding anniversary! 

What do you like most about what you do at FirstLight Home Care?

I love working with different clients and hearing their stories while helping them.
