This is the fourth in a series of interview-style profiles of the hard-working and compassionate Caregivers on the FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston and Boston-Back Bay Caregiver Team.
How long have you been with FirstLight Home Care?
I have been working with FirstLight for over 5 years.
Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
When I first moved to the states, I was staying with a friend in Maryland. My friend was providing care for seniors and at times I would go with her to work and saw how she cared for people. On the days I did not go with her, I would listen to her talk about her day and the interactions she had with her clients. Seeing and hearing her work with the elderly population inspired me to become a caregiver. I was staying with my friend in the 90’s and then went back to Africa. When I moved to Massachusetts in 2016, I became a CNA and started providing care directly to seniors.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
I like to watch Family Feud. I always learn something new when I’m watching it. I like to sing in church, I’m involved with the church choir and sing soprano.
What do you like most about what you do at FirstLight Home Care?
I love seeing my clients, having the opportunity to make them happy. It gives me the satisfaction as if I am caring for my own parents (who have since passed away). I like seeing my clients happy and living a positive life.
