Wendy Adlerstein to Speak at Memory Care Support Group in Natick — A Special Evening for Family Caregivers

We are excited to share that Wendy Adlerstein, LSW, Executive Director and Co-Owner of FirstLight Home Care of West Suburban Boston, has been invited as a featured guest speaker at the Memory Care Support Group hosted by The Residence at Natick South.

The event takes place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, at The Residence at Natick South, located at 119 E Central Street in Natick, Massachusetts. Dinner will be provided, and the evening is open to anyone caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.

An Evening Built Around You — The Caregiver

The Residence at Natick South’s monthly Memory Care Support Group brings together family members and caregivers who are navigating the profound challenges of dementia care. It is a safe, warm, and engaging space to connect with others who truly understand what you are going through — to share stories, ask questions, and find both practical guidance and emotional support.

Wendy will be presenting on a topic that is central to sustainable, compassionate caregiving: Caregiver Self Care.

It is a subject she approaches with both professional expertise and genuine empathy. As a Licensed Social Worker with nearly 30 years of experience working with seniors and their families, Wendy has spent her career not only coordinating care for older adults — but also supporting the family members who carry so much of the weight of that care themselves.

Why Caregiver Self Care Matters

Caring for a loved one with dementia is one of the most demanding roles a person can take on. The emotional, physical, and logistical toll is real — and it compounds over time. Research consistently shows that family caregivers are at elevated risk for burnout, depression, social isolation, and their own health decline when they neglect their own well-being.

Wendy’s presentation will offer caregivers:

  • Practical, actionable strategies for protecting their own health and energy
  • Perspective and validation — a reminder that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but of wisdom
  • Insight into when and how professional home care can step in to provide relief, so caregivers can recharge without guilt
  • An open conversation about the emotional complexity of the caregiving role
